We all know that teenage pregnancy is very rampant in high school students, so DOH decided to give condoms to the public schools. But, why does the DepEd disagree to that proposal? Let's find out.

Last December 2, 2016, DOH plans that they will distribute condoms in schools as a part of "Business Unusual" strategy interms of the rising number of HIV/AIDS patients among youth in our country. The DepEd also encouraging parents to teach safe sex at home as a part of the strategy.

“As soon as we thresh out the strategy with the Department of Education (DepEd), we can distribute (condoms) after providing them proper counseling,” Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said in a press conference for the World AIDS Day 2016 on Thursday

“Of course, we also have to prepare the school authorities, teachers, principals, healthcare providers,” Ubial said. Even the World Health Organization Representative Mr. Gundo Weiler said that educating the youth will enable the teenagers to protect themselves.

But, even though there's a lot of positive sides in distributing condoms, DepEd refused to do it. The Department of Education hold this proposal to study and identify whether this move is appropriate to cover schools and learning institutions, if not, there are other ways on preventing teenage pregnancy at the same time the virus of HIV/AIDS. First, the parents should know how they will talk to their children and educate them what are the problems they might face of engaging in pre-marital sex, second in school, where student's second home, teachers should also discuss it because we all know if that is the topic, all students are alive and attentive, third one, the state's mandate to protect minors from any abuse.

DepEd made a decision that distribution of condoms will continue to take place in health center. What can you say about this? What is the mentality of these people (DOH) ? They are just giving a signal that it is okay to do pre-marital sex, it's not a problem because supposedly they will have condoms . What is the essence of Porn site banned? So they're trying to say it is okay to do with a partner than to do it alone?
